We stayed here for 7 nights; our room was on the first floor at the front of the main building with a very nice outlook over the street in the 'oldstadt' area of Dinkelsbuhl.||The room was quiet, and plenty big enough with 2 wardrobes for clothes storage. It was clean and tidy and we were able to make tea and coffee in our room.||The breakfast buffet was excellent; typically German with juice, fruit salad, yoghurt and a great selection of meat, cheese and bread. Both boiled and scrambled eggs were available. ||||We only ate in the restaurant one night during our stay, and it was very good. The menu had quite an extensive selection of Franconian dishes..and the Schnitzel was really good. Also a good selection of Franconian wine, and decent German beer.||||||Wifi was "available in public areas" but we received coverage in our room without any problems on both a laptop and a phone. WiFi is free but each session is limited to 30 minutes after which you can log back on again. A good idea as it ensures everyone has reasonable and free access.||||Parking in Dinkelsbuhl is limited to 1 hour in daytime; if you have a rental car it should come with the necessary parking card; if not the Gasthof will lend you one. You can park over-night outside the Gasthof, and during daytime you can park at any of the free car parks outside the town walls. No more than a 5 minute walk away.||||All of the staff were excellent; very helpful & friendly. Most spoke English well enough for there to be no difficulties at all. ||||Just remember that like many German Gasthof, the zum Golden Anker is cash only...no problem as there are 2 ATM's with a few minutes' walk of the hotel.

Leider nichts…
Wir waren von den positiven Berichten hier schon sehr angetan, leider kam es ganz anders. Die flachen Schnitzel waren bestimmt selbst geklopft, die Panade klebrig und mehlig. Der Kartoffelsalat war sicher nicht selbstgemacht, vielleicht die Gurkenstücke selbst hineingegeben. Die Pommes schmeckten bis zum Nebentisch nach altem Fett.
Alles in allem ein totaler Reinfall!
Positiv: die Dame, die uns bedient hat, war sehr freundlich!

We stayed one night whilst walking the Romantische Strasse. Reception was warm and friendly. Our rooms were in the guest house 50m further down the street. We were on the second floor and there was no lift. My single room was quite large, simply but comfortably furnished and very. My bathroom had been refurbished recently and was well fitted out. There was no wifi in our rooms but it was free in the hotel restaurant. Our dinner which we ate outside was simple but good. Our breakfast was better than many, and nicely presented in a beautiful old room with lots of character. The hotel is located within the walls of the old town, close to the northern gate, and just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Dont expect luxury, but plenty of local charm in a jem of a Bavarian town.

Die Zimmer im Gästehaus waren zwar klein aber ausreichend für Kurzreise. Sauberkeit war o.k. Das Essen im Gasthof war allererste Sahne, besonders die Wildgerichte waren vorzüglich. Die Besitzer und das Personal waren sehr engagiert und freundlich. Der Service war ausgezeichnet. Auch das Fühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen. Wir waren eine Radlergruppe (15 Senioren) und wurden rundum gut versorgt, inkl. Unterstellmöglichkeit für die Fahrräder.

We stayed here for one night on our way to Slovenia. We booked two double rooms both of which overlooked the street but proved to very quiet at night. The rooms were clean, tidy and quite spacious with tea and coffee making facilities which was a surprise bonus. ||||The Goldenen Anker is tucked away in a quieter part of town so you don't get a lot of traffic - either by foot or car- passing by. It doesn't have a car park (few places in Dinkelsbuhl do) but you can park overnight in the street near to the hotel (as we did) if you place a parking permit in your windscreen. The hotel will provide you with one on request. A number of staff spoke English well so there was no problem communicating.||||There is a small terrace area out front where you can eat if the weather is good and the restaurant inside is quite spacious and furnished in an old traditional style which is really charming. ||||The food is of good quality and good value for money with the portions being pretty generous and the service staff were friendly and efficient. ||||Breakfast is a self-service buffet arrangement offering the usual fare such as bread, ham,cheese, cereals, preserves etc. It was nothing special but was of good quality and presentation nonetheless.||||I would certainly stay here again.

Ich bin auf meiner Radtour durch Bayern hier eingekehrt, weil ich Abends Fussball schauen wollte. Die aufmerksame Bedienung brachte zügig leckeres Bier und eine schöne Brotzeit. Die Stimmung war gut, der Laden voll. Würde auf jeden Fall wieder hin.

Stayed 31 March 2015. Delightful old building in a lovely medieval town. Our room, at the front, was large and quite well equipped. The bed was a double wrap around base with 2 single mattresses side by side and each with its own duvet. A very clever and welcome arrangement. The shower was an 80 mm square which some might find on the tight side.||Food for dinner in the restaurant was excellent.There was a good choice and plenty of it for the buffet breakfast. Staff currently do not speak a great deal of English so there may be some communication problems.

Wir waren zur Weihnachtszeit in dem Restaurant und es war super gemütlich. Kleine Nischen, alles mit viel Liebe zum Detail weihnachtlich geschmückt, ohne dass es kitschig wirkt. Die Bedienung 1 a. Und das Essen - ausgezeichnet mit einem wirklich sehr guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir kommen wieder - das ist sicher...
